The band cardiophon was founded in 1993 by the hamburg artists Alexander Rischer, Corina Ernst and Frank Lüsing. The instrumentation is very simple: a guitar, played by Alexander Rischer and the vocals by Corina Ernst and Frank Lüsing, who sometimes also plays the recorder. Over the years cardiophon worked on a large repertoire of ballads. Texts are mainly found ones taken from different origin: Romantic Poetry, Manierism, American Poetry and Finnish Folk Poetry; for example by authors like Robert Herrick and Emily Dickinson. In many cases the texts were modified and translated roughly. The songs are no musical interpretations of poetry. It is an up-to-date emotional posing, which differs from from usual pop music. The band cardiophon therefore made much more concerts in museums and art spaces than in music clubs. Cardiophon released two studio recordings in 1998 and 2003. For the performance festival cardiophon will be represented by Alexander Rischer and Frank Lüsing.
