Place: Fraktale IV, »Death«, Palast der Republik, Berlin /Germany

Performance

»black rain« is the second variation out of the series SHOWER PERFORMANCES.
I stand in a huge white room, wearing a white dress, white shoes. Eleven litres of thick black oil paint pour slowly over my body from the shower installed from the ceiling. A large part of the paint pours over my face and then my entire body. The picture of Death in western Art.

base
Duration: 14 minutes
Date: September 2005
Place: communstic theater /Poland /Krakau
Material: pair of military boots, wooden ground

Performance

Photo: Wladislaw Kazmierczak

I am standing in a basement in the former Electronic Technical University in Krakau, now a Community Theater.
The stage a construction of wood, under my feet, plywood boards and below only empty space. Above my head, attached to the ceiling hangs a flashlight emmiting a week illumination. The remainder of space lies in darkness. I wear military boots . Slowly I begin to march. The wooden flooring and the space below act as a „Klangkörper“ (sound body). My march echoes through the building. With the increasing thunder of my steps eching through the floors above, the association to the rolling of bull dozers or tanks is obvious. The room becomes eerie space, threatening and ominous. I feel the violence of my step through my entire body. I change my pace becoming quiter, slower, a light dance, even a tap dance step, walking lightens the atmosphere. At the end of my performance building to thunder once more. Then it is over, I switch the flashlight off. Darkness.

I developed this performance one day after my first visit of Ausschwitz. Unable to illustrate my experience in words, my performance expressed my feelings of helplessness, shame and powerlessness, giving a form to my emotions.

Black Performances
Performance 01 /Corset - Breaking Boundaries

Performance
Photos : Patrick Gaden

Women wore Corsets well into the 19th century - for their own and also
for others, and as a sexual stimulance - It is also said in this way women where kept under control. Active, physical work and thought being very difficult, since the blood was kept from the brain restricted to the abdominal and genital regions, and with little air left over to breath. Today is the Corset as a requisite for Fetishists and worshipped or despised. The Corset serves strongly the realm of Erotic and can bring its wearer into a state of uncounciousness.
I was curious of the game of " Dominance and Submission ".
So unbiased I decided on a Performance for another view and to " flirt
" with this situation. The breaking of boundaries and irritation a result .
The Corset performance took place in several different locations with
and without announcement.
The work can be rented.

golden shower
Duration: 13 minutes
Date: 2004.25.11
Location: Kunsthalle zu Kiel
Performance to celebrate the Muthesius-Schule becoming an Art University
Assistent: Trevor A. Austin, Urs Zeidler

Performance

Photos: Jozef Kubica

Under the roof hangs a black container connected to a shower assembly. I open the valve. The Gold show starts as 7.5 litres of Golden oil paint slowly pours over me. My gilding now takes place. The gold flows over my eyes, mouth and ears and almost the entire body.
The performance shows the ambivalence in action of attaining a higher instance or status. The possibility of danger to my vision or the subtle threating asphyxiation through the increasing closing of my pores apart from the highly aesthetic quality, a suffering atmosphere is also present.
Moments of impression that may be written deeply in the memory. In Ancient Rome the Rich enemies of the State where killed by their own molten Gold. This work is dedicated to Dr. Andreas von Randow.

I do
Duration: 83 minutes
Date: March 2004
Location: Hochzeitskapelle an der B84 bei Preetz
Material: 3 tiered wedding cake
Assistent: Trevor A.Austin

Performance

Camera: Patrick Gaden

I sit in the chapel and eat my cake, after aprox. 80 minutes I feel sick, I eat a little more, than I stand up.
A wedding all in white, to fullfill this dream. One day of happiness, that it could last a lifetime. Tradition, questionably handed down.
Bulimie and the mania for slenderness, the promise from perfect pictures and the broken belief in our time are the things of which are important for me to discuss.
During the performance there is the play of coloured light, which illuminates me from the opposite church window.

Are you Good or Bad?
Date: June 2004

Group-performance

23 people march during the 'Kieler Woche' over several hours in a massive and undividable block along the Kiel Promenade.

The result, some spectators are amused, others somewhat irritated. The gregarious atmosphere in the unity of this marching and rhythmic troup causes happy and elated yells. Curiosity and obvious supressed behaviour, misunderstanding and rising agression.
The whole band-width of 'Good and Evil' emotions manifests itself amongst the spectators.

Thanks to 22 wide awake fellow travellers
