By definition, folk dance reflects local folklore, through bodily gestures associated with local ways of life. In Israel, the sight of security guards inspecting citizens at checkposts has become routine: an unfamiliar hand penetrating a private bag; metal detectors scanning intimate body parts; or citizens required to take their clothes off. I use these elements to transform such physical inspections into a new aesthetic language, creating a new folk dance - an up-to-date version of Israeli folklore. In the work I expose my I.D., my notes, my prayer, my money, my drivers license, my wife, my son and my daughter and after being exposed they become: our I.D., our notes, our prayer, our money, our drivers license, our wife, our son and our daughter.
